Mezcal GTX Solo

I have made only one paddling session with it so far, and I liked it. It is fast, comfortable and steers well, even with fixed rudder. Joint areas feel rock solid, no wobbling or shacking on waves. My only complain is the short (only two lines) and distant bungee cord in front of cockpit which is difficult to reach. I would prefer the old (Mercury´s) setup with three cord lines which is more practical, on my mind.

Great and convenient kayak made to fit a Volvo S60

Have owned this kayak for two summers now and can say that I am really impressed how well it holds up. I’ve taken it on two separate six day kayak & camping expeditions on the Norwegian coast and on many day and weekend trips on the Swedish coast.
It paddles and sits well, has sufficient storage for gear, food, and water; even for six days, and the storage compartments stay very dry.
The ability to take it apart to ease the walking when loaded after landing with tidal differences is a nice side benefit! Another one is that it exactly fits into a first gen Volvo S60, as if was designed for that car!
The only two improvement points I could come up with are: 1) the rudder is a bit sensitive from time to time but I guess it can be adjusted with the cord tension, and 2) it is a little slower than a 5+ meter sea kayak as this one is a bit shorter, but that makes it a better exercise when paddling with friends - I don’t notice it when I’m alone.

Great

"Flawless from my side! The FedEx tracking was instant so I always knew where my package was, and it showed up perfectly packaged in two parcels. I'm absolutely thrilled with the kayak! Also, huge shoutout to the sales support: I got a paddle and a spray skirt thrown in for free, which totally made my day. Thanks!"

Overall I am very satisfied with the Kayak

Overall I am very satisfied with the Kayak. However I would like to nitpick a little(none of these are Dealbreakers however)
- At almost 1,90m with a shoesize of 46 I feel like I am at the upper end of people who might fit in it. Especially the steering pedals can be a bit tricky, as my feet dont quite fit in an upright position. I also have to put the pedals at the second to last position.
-Back piece is awkward to carry. When empty, one can hold it by the cargo hole, however if the lid is closed, there are no longer any two good holds to carry the piece.
- Cargo bays can heat up significantly. As the lids are pitch black rubber, they really heat up fast when hit by the sun.
- steering fin sticks out. I have yet mainly driven on lakes and oceans, which seem like the natural environment for this kayak. I am a bit hesitant to use it in shallow waters as I predict the back fin will hit many rocks and thus be prone to break at some point.
- What I assume is a cup holder behind the seat is a few centimeters to narrow for my drinking bottle(Which I would describe as a standard size)

A few positive things I would like to highlight:
+ The three pieces can easily be carried on their own.
+ Every part of the kayak seems to be easily replaceable without needing an expert.
+ It is fairly fast. I average about 5-6km/h when paddling at a leasurely pace.
+ The steering system can easily be adjustet on the go.

Mezcal GTX Solo

I have tried out the Mezcal GTX Solo for about 10 days now, using it for 2-3h day trips (no luggage), and I am so far very happy with the modular kayak. I was able to carry the different parts of the kayak on my own and found it very easy to assemble and take apart after viewing a short introduction video (no instructions included in the shipment). It is a pleasure to row on the water and feels quite fast and agile with and without use of the rudder. The system for adjusting the rudder pedals is genious, making it very easy to share the kayak with people of different leg lengths – it is quick and simple to adjust when in or out of the kayak.
The only downside so far is that the back compartment is not completely waterproof, but keeps letting a few dL of water in for each trip, despite careful fitting of the rubber hatch and relatively calm water. Due to the modular build it is easy to take the back module off and empty it, so it does not matter much for daytrips, but would require careful waterproof packing of any luggage.

No response from the support

We haven't tried the kayak yet but we noticed that the front piece doesn't aligns with the cockpit like the other two pieces. We sent an email to the support with some pictures to ask if it's normal but never got a response.

The most cool yak

The kayak is very well made and I appreciate the thoughtful design like the seat. It firs easily inside the car and I can carry it piece by piece for storage. The only improvement I can suggest is the pins that hold the seat to the kayak. I have removed the seat to wash it and didn't notice that the pins are not attached. Lost a few in the grass, but eventually found all.
